Thanks Dad, For Unleashing My Passion.
We all have that one moment where we decided YES! That’s what I want to do when I grow up. Or that is what I want to become. This is what lights my sould on fire and I couldn’t picture doing anything else. My dad simply helped me discover my true passion. Let me give you the inside scoop.
Growing up, I have always loved makeup and everything beauty. I would take my moms concealer and apply it on as lipstick thinking I was the prettiest thing in the world. I was lucky enough to have parents that allowed me to wear makeup at the age of thirteen. I did the simple eyeliner and mascara, because at that age it’s all I knew. You know, the simple basics. By no means was I good at it just yet.
I remember coming home from school in the sixth grade with cheap eyeliner running down my eyes and my dad saying, “Here’s twenty dollars, buy yourself a nice eyeliner please.” Bless his heart, little did he know he unlocked my true passion for makeup. Because after that moment, my mom and I went to a MAC counter and I was in heaven.
Seeing all the different textures and finishes of the blushes and eyeshadows made me tear up a bit. Nothing made me more happier than being in that environment. The make-up artist was so down to earth and helped me pick out a technakohl liner and a mineralize skinfinish natural face powder. If you’re a make-up lover, you’ll know that those products back in the day were iconic.
I went home that same day and looked up on YouTube, “How to Apply Eyeliner.” Instantly, I was hooked. I wanted to become a Pro at Make-up. No matter how long it took. I fell in love with every aspect of it. I could sit for hours and hours just watching people do their makeup. Learning all the different skin types, tips, and tricks just brought a confidence out of me I couldn’t explain.
Everyday, I would walk into school with a full face of make-up on and lived for it. You name it; foundation, concealer, eyeshadow, liner mascara, blush, bronzer, and the works. Taking the time to do my make-up, use different shades and expirement made me the happiest and still does to this day. Make-up is what makes me, me. I love making other people feel amazing about themselves. When you look good, you feel good. Whether it’s doing minimal or a full glam, I want to keep making people smile and learn a thing or two.
With that being said, thank you dad for unleashing my passion. He really changed it all for me.
xoxo, aisha
